Life Is A Lucky Dip!
The past eighteen months has taught us that life truly is a lucky dip. For many in our community it has been a difficult and lonely time, especially for people living with dementia. B&NES Dementia Action Awareness (DAA) will be at the Charity Chalet on Kingston Parade on Friday 26th November (10am – 7pm) joining the city’s festivities #bathatchristmas.
Please come along to talk to us about how we can work together to make your organization more dementia friendly. Or you may even want to run a lucky dip this Christmas season to help raise funds and awareness for B&NES Dementia Action Awareness (DAA).
The B&NES DAA is attempting to create a community-wide response to dementia aiming to make B&NES dementia friendly and provide access to reassurance, opportunities, advice, support and knowledge.
As a charity working with businesses and organisations we aim to help make them more dementia friendly so that people with dementia and their carers can live better in our community.
Even the DAA website; dementiafriendlybath.org has been tailored to be legible to people with a dementia diagnosis. This can be a devastating and challenging time and often people feel bombarded with information from every direction. B&NES DAA has also created a hard copy “bible” for people with a new diagnosis and their carers providing useful information they can access in one place about legal, medical, technical and caring support.
After being forced to suspend face-to-face activity, B&NES DAA is keen to kick start its valuable work to create “dementia champions” and continue its support for the organisations that help people with dementia and their carers to make the most of their lives. “Dementia Friends” sessions are designed to increase understanding of dementia and inspire people to take action to support those affected by dementia.
